Human Rights Policy

HUMAN RİGHTS POLİCY

 

1. PURPOSE

İzdemir Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (the “Company”), together with its employees and all stakeholders, respects human rights and bases its operations on internationally recognized human rights principles in line with its sustainable production objectives and activities. Our objective is to articulate our respect for human rights alongside the value we place on our employees, to demonstrate our human rights-focused approach in our relationships with all our stakeholders, including our employees, and within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), though not limited to these to address poverty, hunger, gender inequality, the climate crisis, and discrimination.

 

2. SCOPE

This policy is intended to be binding on all Company employees, suppliers, contractors, subcontractor employees, customers, as well as third-party stakeholders with any commercial or industrial ties to the Company, and the public. In the spirit of respect for and compliance with human rights, the Board of Directors commits to fulfilling the requirements set forth in this policy and expects Company employees to do the same.

 

3. RESPECT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

As human beings, our most important mission is to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms, to ensure that they are respected, and to lead the way in ensuring that this respect continues to spread. All people, without any discrimination, have the right to live in equality, freedom, and dignity simply by virtue of being human. It is our fundamental principle to conduct our operations in accordance with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights in our relationships with all our stakeholders including our employees and suppliers and with society at large, and to encourage our stakeholders to act with sensitivity in this regard. We identify human rights risks affecting the people we interact with in all our business processes as part of our overall business risks and exercise the necessary care to prevent them.

 

4. PREVENTION OF CHILD LABOR

Child labor is strictly prohibited at İzdemir Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. All employees must be of legal working age.


5. HIRING

Under the Human Resources Procedures of İzdemir Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., compliance with company rules and social suitability criteria are considered important factors in the selection of new employees, in addition to their technical and professional expertise. From the very beginning of the hiring process, policies to prevent discrimination and mistreatment are strictly enforced. This approach ensures the consistent application of ethical standards and fosters a work environment aligned with the company’s values.

 

6. WORKING HOURS

To ensure productive work and respect for human rights, working hours and overtime are kept in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

 

7. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, RESPECT FOR DIFFERENCES AND DIVERSITY

In human resources processes and the work environment, such as compensation, recruitment, personal and professional development, the company maintains an equal attitude towards employees without discrimination based on gender, language, religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, age, pregnancy, marital status, union membership, political views, and similar issues, and does not tolerate discrimination in these areas. While conducting its approach towards employees based on the principle of "the right person for the right job," processes are managed transparently based on employees' qualifications, experience, and performance. Respect for diversity, an important element of the organizational structure, is maintained.

 

8. PREVENTION OF MALTREATMENT

A zero-tolerance policy is implemented against physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal harassment and ill-treatment. All forms of harassment and bullying against our employees are prohibited.

 

9. FREEDOM OF ORGANIZATION AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

The right of employees to join a union and to engage in collective bargaining, and to be freely and democratically represented through employee representatives, is respected.

 

10. FORCED AND COMPULSORY LABOR

At İzdemir Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., it is guaranteed that there will be no compulsory or debt-based labor under contract, and that labor will be based on voluntariness. This principle aims to protect the rights of employees and ensure fair working conditions.

 

11. TRAINING

The education level of employees determines the overall level of the company. Following this logic, raising awareness of human rights among employees, increasing awareness of occupational health and safety, and supporting their professional and personal development through internal or external training programs are crucial. The continuous development of the company, and consequently the development of employees, is ensured through these training programs.

 

12. VIOLATION REPORTING AND PROTECTION

Our employees can report human rights violations in a safe and confidential manner. Employees who report violations are protected without fear of retaliation. Reports are handled through an independent review process, and corrective actions are taken where deemed necessary.

 

13. MONITORING AND REVIEW

This policy is reviewed regularly and updated as needed. We monitor our human rights performance and evaluate feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
